Blood Sugar Sex Magik

This album is what many fans believe put the band on the map. It made it all the way to number 3 on the Billboard charts due to such hits as "Give it Away", "Under The Bridge", and "Suck My Kiss". The Red Hot Chili Peppers had left EMI and Signed with Warner Bros. Rick Rubin produced this album and changed the style of their music dramatically. They're music was much more serious and they tried a softer side of music on some songs like "I Could Have Lied", and "Under the Bridge". Red Hot Chili Peppers finally made it big and almost every kid in America had heard of them.

Mothers Milk

This is the first album after Hillel's death. To replace Hillel, the RHCP found a guitarist named John Fruciante. Chad Smith replaced Jack Irons on drums, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers managed to stay together. 2 of the songs on this album became hits as this album reached 52 on the Billboard Charts. To date this album has sold 2 million copies worldwide and went Platnum in the US. This was the Chili Peppers' most successful album on EMI. One thing that makes this album distinctly different from the first 3 is Fruciante's guitar playing. The Chili Peppers were becomming more and more famous, but they still hadn't had their breakthrough album.

The Uplift Mofo Party Plan

This is the third album by RHCP recorded on EMI. This album shows progression in the Chili Peppers as musicians, but it is also the first and only album with all four of the original band members. This in itself is a big deal, because not long after the album Slovak died of a severe drug overdose. Anthony and Slovak both were heavy drug users at the time, but Slovak eventually took it too far which caused extreme feelings of mourning and sadness for years after this album. This album had a few notable singles on it, including "Fight Like A Brave", "Me and My Friends", and "Behind the Sun" It reached #148 on the billboard's top 200, which was the first Chili Peppers album to do so.

Freaky Styley

Freaky Syley was RHCP's second record recorded on EMI. It was Hillel's first record with the group. This album is probably the strangest of any Chili Peppers' album to date. According to Flea, the record was "too funky for white radio, too punk rockin' for black." This album didn't really help or hurt the Chili Peppers, it just restated that there was this funk group that didn't care what people thought of them. They wanted to make it big, but that didn't impact the way they played their music. Flea was still going to play his bass like nobodies business, and they were still going to do their own thing. This his album, in my opinion, shows what the group is all about.

Red Hot Chili Peppers (Album)

After becoming successful at a few local clubs, RHCP was signed by EMI. The big question for whether this album would be successful or not is if they could get the enormous vibe of energy their live music gave off onto a record. Today this record has sold over 300,000 copies, but it wasn't nearly that successful when it came out. Hillel and Irons were both tied up in another band named "What is this?", so Cliff Martiniz played the drums, and Jack Sherman took Hillel's place at guitar. The album's most recognizable song, named "True Men Don't Kill Coyotes", shows off a great bass-line by Flea which makes it one of the best of the early Chili Peppers music.

Anthony Kiedis - Intro and Early Life

Anthony is one of the 2 remaining RHCP that were in the original band line-up. His life has been full of drugs, sex, and childhood troubles. As a child, his mom lived in Michigan while his dad lived in LA. Although he was born in Michigan, he spent most of his childhood with his dad. His dad was a well known drug dealer in LA, so Anthony was introduced to drugs at a very young age. His father wasn't very protecting of Anthony in any way. In his biography, there are pictures of Anthony smoking Marijuana at a very young age taken by his dad. This drug addiction followed him for most of his life, causing him to even get kicked out of the band early in his career. Anthony attended Fairfax Highschool where he met Michael (FLEA) Balzary, Hillel Slovak, and Jack Irons who all made up the original line-up for the Chili Peppers.
